The artworks currently in the collection reveal a spectrum of approaches to symbolism:
- Still life as theatre of meaning: Works such as The Circle of Life, The Non-Conformist, and Morning Reflections use carefully chosen objects to evoke mortality, individuality, and ritual. Their compositions echo classical traditions while introducing subtle disruptions that invite the viewer to look again.
- Surrealism as expanded reality: Pieces like Escape From the Seaside and The Sun of Man stretch the boundaries of logic, placing familiar forms into impossible contexts. These dreamlike juxtapositions challenge assumptions about scale, setting, and coherence, encouraging a playful yet contemplative response.
- Time as a recurring motif: Across the collection, time appears in many guises — the alarm clock under threat in A Treatise on Early Mornings, the swinging metronome in The Circle of Life, the daily ritual of shaving in Morning Reflections. Whether resisted, measured, or ritualised, time becomes both subject and backdrop, shaping the human condition.
Together, these works form a constellation rather than a linear series. Each piece is complete in itself, yet when placed alongside the others, resonances emerge: mortality against renewal, order against rebellion, reality against dream. The collection does not seek to resolve these tensions but to hold them in balance, offering viewers a space to reflect on the fragile, often paradoxical nature of existence.

The Between Form and Dream Collection
This collection shows how symbolism can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Still life arrangements become small theatres of meaning. Objects such as books, metronomes, and mirrors carry echoes of mortality, ritual, and renewal.
Surreal compositions stretch the boundaries of logic. Familiar forms are placed into impossible contexts that feel playful yet unsettling.
Highlights from the Collection
- Morning Reflections — a shaving brush reflected in glass, a quiet study of ritual and time.
- Escape From the Seaside — a speedboat tearing along a road, absurd yet strangely familiar.
- The Sun of Man — veiled lovers beneath a whimsical sun, balancing intimacy and distance.
- The Circle of Life — a metronome and objects arranged as symbols of mortality and renewal.
The collection moves fluidly between restraint and imagination. Each artwork is self‑contained, yet together they create a shifting dialogue: order against disruption, intimacy against distance, reality against dream.
Individually, the works invite contemplation of time, memory, and perception. As a constellation, they offer space to reflect on the fragile, paradoxical nature of existence — finding beauty not in resolution, but in the balance of opposing forces.
